“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people. Unfortunately, that’s too rare a commodity. A lot of people in our industry haven’t had very diverse experiences. So they don’t have lots of dots to connect, and they end up with very linear solution without a broad perspective on the problem. The broader one’s understanding of the human experience, the better design we will have.”- Steve Jobs

How to

 1) Start with the wide end  a of your tie on the right, extending about a foot below the narrow end on the left.
 2) Now cross the wide end over the narrow end.
 3) Then you bring the wide end up through the loop between the collar and your tie.
 4) Then bring the wide end back down.
 5) Pull the wide end underneath the narrow end and to the right, back through the loop and to the right again so that the wide end is inside out.
 6) Bring the wide end across the front from right to left.
 7) Then pull the wide end up through the loop again.
 8) Bring the wide end down through the knot in front.
 9) And — using both hands — tighten the knot carefully and draw it up to the collar.

tieatie

*Congratulations, you have successfully tied a full windsor knot. While the full windsor is my favorite style and usually my go to choice its important to remember one key thing for style purposes there are a ton of ways to tie a tie and many ways were specifically designed to fit certain shirt types more appropriately from a visual standpoint and sometimes even the occasion can determine which knot to wear. Below I have for you all a diagram that display’s four commonly used styles and their subsequent steps to follow in order to accomplish the knot that suits you.

Now that we’ve gotten a few basic knots and how to tie them out of the way lets revisit how to better choose the right tie color or pattern, while of course considering where you’ll be wearing. Also keep in mind that context is a big thing as well. For example, chances are you won’t wear the same tie to a board meeting that you’d wear to a ball. Just to be on the safe side classic and understated or subtle ties are best for when you’re at work or at a formal social function, think darker color schemes. I know I do!

Now if you’re looking to grab the limelight you may want to go with power ties that usually feature bold, vibrant colors and these are ideal for situations where you do in fact want to stand out. With that said save novelty ties for occasions that allow for  humorous and for you to show your lighter side.

To wrap things up sometimes it can be challenging to match a tie with a shirt. It’s usually pretty easy to do with a white dress shirt, as anything goes, but beyond that things have the potentially to get messy. Aim to have the shirt and tie enhance each other or blend together. You can match a shirt with a tie in the same color but a darker shade, or pair a shirt with the same color tie for a blended look. When in doubt, a black, white or neutral shirt can work with a tie of almost any color. Typically when working with a striped or patterned shirt, a solid tie is the safest bet. The same rule applies the opposite way, so with a patterned tie simply choose a solid color shirt in most cases.

I hope this helps someone out there!

until next time!

A timely slice of paradise

Pic of box:20141205_170647

I ordered two large pepperoni pizzas at Little Caesars on a day when a good friend of mine was working and I have never eaten there before but for the purposes of this assignment I ate about three slices on the bench in the store and had a few words with friends. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed because as I mentioned before my good firend works there, but not only that my good friend/roommate Roland came with me. It was all fun and laughter as the night progressed. Ah yes, it was night time not too long before closing time actually. I ordered a two liter for the house and a 20 oz pepsi for myself because lets face it im a caffeine addict. The time of day I visited definitely lent to the mood that could be felt within the place. Everyone was engaged in fruitful conversation, with no one interrupting and to my surpise they gave me free wings before my departure. Little Caesars is located by Taco bell, and Ichiban if that gives you a good idea where it is located. Taking it further I would recommend it to a friend, but not for dine in, as they really dont accomodate that sort of thing. Yet if your’e a friend of an employee and you know its a slow day, by all means prance on in there and grab a bite. Word to the wise though you should eat the pizza as soon as possible, and if it becomes leftovers then you’ll want to eat in after the first day I’d suggest. After about two days in the fridge any semblance of awesome is pretty much stripped from the pizza itself almost as if your refrigerator played a cruel joke on you. Little Caesars itself is quite small. There are a few chairs and no tables; the only reason they’re there is just if you need to wait for your pizza to be prepared.

Otherwise,

Service at the counter is very friendly.

Everybody I’ve ever encountered at Little Caesars has gotten me my pizza with a smile on his or her face.

The cheese and pepperoni pizzas are already prepared, so you just come in, ask for your pizza, pay $5, and then you’re right back out the door.

Pizza here is decent, but you won’t get much flavor at all. The only thing that can really be said in favor of this place is the prices; at $5 for a large pie, it’s cheaper than even most frozen pizzas at your supermarket.

Would I recommend to a friend? Sure just don’t go chasing waterfalls expecting greatness or get leftover crazy!

welp thats all folks

until next time!
